‘Portraits of Resilience’ art exhibit celebrates women, their personal journeys
Women’s Services marks Sexual Assault Awareness Month with “Portraits of Resilience: A Celebration of Women,” an art exhibit at the Meadville Market House’s Gardner Theatre. A free reception to mark the premiere of the exhibition is from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
At the center of the exhibit will be portraits of 10 women accompanied by narratives of their personal journeys. Several of the women are themselves victims of sexual assault and several have also received assistance from Women’s Services, according to Shayna Morrison, education specialist with Women’s Services and one of the event’s organizers.
Morrison was hopeful that approaching sexual assault through the stories of community members would help to humanize a difficult topic…
