NDMO shifts focus to emergency communication

STRENGTHENING and improving communications during disaster events, particularly in rural areas, is now the main focus of the National Disaster Management Office. Government has revealed that work is now in progress to improve communications from the various districts to its divisional emergency operation centres in the Western Division. This comes as a result of the survey on the NDMO Emergency Communications System carried out by the World Food Programme (WFP) with the assessment report handed over to the Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and National Disaster Management, Inia Seruiratu last month…
