Britain’s Prince Harry today saluted the resilience of the people of Nepal recovering from the last year’s devastating earthquakes as he called on President Bidya Devi Bhandari and discussed a host of bilateral issues during his maiden visit to the country. Prince Harry, who arrived here yesterday on the five-day visit to mark the 200th anniversary of the Nepal-Britain ties, called on the President at her residence in Sheetal Niwas and said that he was delighted to be in the Himalayan country…

Weather and climate extremes were a factor in more than 90 percent of natural disasters in 2015, new figures from an international disaster database show. In the hottest year on record, with temperatures pushed up by global warming and a strong El Niño weather phenomenon, 32 major droughts were recorded. That was more than double the 10-year annual average from 2005 to 2014, according to the Belgium-based Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters (CRED)…
