UberX drivers make a killing amid continuing Sydney storms

U​ber drivers made a killing in Sydney during the Tuesday morning peak hour commute as demand – and fees – for the ride-sharing app surged, thanks to shocking weather and citywide transport disruptions. But the taxi industry has condemned Uber’s “surge pricing” policy as “disgusting”, arguing the company has taken advantage of consumers in their time of need. Demand for rides on the uberX service shot up 50 per cent before 9am, according to Uber, causing fares to skyrocket to three times the standard price in central Sydney as commuters struggled to get to work…
